Tian Tian woke up to a snow day at the Smithsonian's National Zoo

The Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute is a leader in giant panda conservation as there are only about 1,600 left in the wild (300 live in zoos and breeding centers around the world).

They eat 20-40 pounds of bamboo a day--taking about 16 hours. They then rest for the remainder of the day. Find more facts like this at the links below:
